Keeping the Trans-Canada Highway Moving - Behind the Scenes (Glacier National Park, BC)

Every spring Heather Hill (Glacier National Park, BC) lets go of ~20,000 to 40,000m3 of debris ranging in size from small silt particles to car sized boulders which flows down the mountain side and deposits on the Beaver Valley floor along the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH). This annual event often causes timely road-closures of the TCH and can take weeks and hundreds of thousands of dollars to cleanup.
